Are you brave enough?

It was during one of my regular beach walks, when I happened to notice I was sharing the beach with just one other person.

As I got closer, I realised that the person was moving quite erratically. My first judgemental thoughts were for my own safety - are they on drugs? Are they aggressive? Is there anyone else around? (there wasn't).

So, I walked closer to the water's edge and carried on past this possible threat.

As we passed each other, I discovered, to my embarrassment, that the elegantly tall female was in fact dancing. She was wearing ear-pods that I could not see and listening to music that I obviously could not hear.

She had a very rhythmical way of moving and possibly came from a country where dancing is a part of life. Where dancing in pubic, for the sheer love of it, and of life, is just who they are. How freeing! To be able to be on the sand, with the ocean as the backdrop, listening to your favourite music and just dancing.

Move and be free. To not care what others think. To live life as you wish. To find joy in the smallest of acts.

And not to be the person who is in fact judgemental or fearful of others.

The whole experience brought to mind the famous quote attributed to Friedrich Nietzsche:

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music".

Who, then, is the in-sane one?

Are you brave enough to do something that others may judge?

Do you do things just for the sheer love of it, no matter what people might think?

If you could do anything, with the promise of no judgement from others, what would it be?
