Learning something new

I love to learn new things: to attend workshops, weekend retreats, webinars, YouTube (Gardeners' World is one of my fav's!) and read books on topics that I am interested in.

In late 2025, this led me to signing up for a writing course. It was a free, adult learning class run by our local Institute of Skills and Technology and a local tutor. The original course was entitled Journal Writing for Wellbeing, which was wonderful and really got me inspired to write more regularly. So, when Gillian Moon, our fabulous tutor, decided to run another one, I was all in! This class was "Write Your Way", where we could explore journalling, memoir writing or creative writing. During one of the classes, a prompt mentioned writing a poem. Well, I don't think I've had any attempts at poetry since we were forced to at school. This seemed as good a time as any to give it a go. I must admit that I really enjoyed it! So, I thought I would share my second attempt with you all (I'll share my first poem with you all in a future post as it's a bit more personal to our story).

I'm curious.... do you write poetry? Or write in any form? Do you also have a love of learning?

Standing at the edge of the sea......

This is the threshold

Between land and ocean

But also, between worlds

Where solid

Meets fluid

Where known

Meets unknown

Magic happens here

The vastness of one

Touches the enormity of the other

The tides come and go

Come and go

As do the days and the seasons

As do the people

But the ebb and flow remains

There is something special about this meeting point

The thin veil

Between two worlds
