Happiness is.........

.....being able to pick your own fresh flowers, bunch them up into bouquets and give them away.

I often have an excess of flowers in my late summer/autumn garden.  So, rather than fill the house with flowers (that I will then have to get rid of!), I often gather them up, deadheading in the process (which is always good for the plants anyway) and pop them out in front of our house for passers-by to take. Win - win!

I don't do it to receive anything in return (other than the feel-good factor) but I have had some lovely momentos. Two young boys wrote me thank you cards (photo), someone left a $2 coin under the bucket, an elderly gentleman wrote me a lovely thank you note on his letterhead stationary! And one gorgeous woman stopped by a week or so later to drop me off a bar of chocolate as she was so grateful to have one of the bunches to take to her friend who was unwell. Again, I do not do it for any thanks but those little acts of kindness reflected back just warm my heart.

It makes me wonder..... what could we all do to be a bit kinder, more generous and sharing what we have within our own little communities, just to make the world a little bit brighter?

Photos: One of the gorgeous thank you cards that was left under the empty buckets. They were from a couple of young boys who took a bunch each for their Mum and Grandma. That just made my day! And an example of what I pick and leave out for whoever may need them.
